What

"What's wrong with Mr. Whale, Prophet?" The Child asked.

"Nothing. He's winding down," The Prophet replied.

"Oh," said The Child.

"Prophet?"

"Yes, Child."

"What's winding down?"

"That's when you shake the work week off of your shoulders and relax."

"Oh," said The Child.

"Prophet?"

"Yes, Child?"

"What kind of work has Mr. Whale been doing that he needs to shake off his work week? Mr. Whale hasn't been working."

"Oh, really," said The Prophet. "And what does he do when he carries you around on the ocean?"

"Oh, I forgot all about that, Prophet. Sometimes I forget that those who support me need to rest. Does the lily pad need rest too?"

"It wouldn't hurt to give it a rest, Child. What do you suggest?"

"Why don't we walk on the ocean a while, and let it tag along?"

"Good idea," The Prophet said.

So, The Child and The Prophet stepped off the lily pad and started walking on the water, and The Child started singing a happy tune,

Here we go round the mulberry bush,
The mulberry bush,
The mulberry bush,
Here we go round the mulberry bush
So early in the morning.*

And Mr. Whale and the lily pad followed as they listened to the song of The Child with joy.

Shalom,
Pat Garcia

  1. Boy, the Challenge definitely IS winding down. I feel like I'm running out of steam too. I don't know how you deal with ALL that you do in addition to the Challenge. We can nearly breathe a sigh of relief. Fun post! Thanks!

  2. Well after an extremely exhausting week and a half, this is definitely words to live by. Yes, shaking off the work time and making time for rest and relaxation are so important. I feel like I flunked this year of the challenge, but I hung on to the whale as long as possible, took solace in the lily pad and drew strength from the Prophet. One thing more, the author who presented her works... is a beautiful, strong, multi layered person, who is an inspiration to many. Thanks Patti! Many hugs and much respect!

    1. Good morning My Dear Liz,
I am behind in my correspondence because of my workload at the moment but I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your coming by and your very open comment.
I will write you as soon as this is over with. You haven't flunked my dear. The essence of success lies in being able to do what you have to do and sometimes letting go of those things that you would love to do.
Take care of yourself and rest.
      Shalom,
      Patti

  3. "They listened to the song of The Child with joy." As I have listened -- listened -- to the song of You, Patricia, with joy these past weeks.

Do publish this touching allegory of truth in book form. You can publish it as a serial, year after year. Just think how wonderful that would be. Your Vision of The Prophet and the Child, and supportive friend, Whale, makes us smile.
