Faith, Prayer, Persevering

Hello Everyone,
It’s the first Wednesday in the month and IWSG Time has come around again.
IWSG is a big help to many of us who don’t mind sharing our insecurities, our successes or giving encouragement to others.

So, if you are interested and would like to join, please go to the IWSG Website at

My article is posted below.

Faith, Prayer, Persevering

2016 lies before me, and I look forward to the challenges.  No, it doesn’t mean I’m not afraid.  You see, I’ve noticed that any time I step out to accomplish my calling to write and to sing challenges come and try to dent my faith.  Obstacles come camouflaged through unsolicited advice from well-minded friends or family members that think they know what is best for me.

In 2015, I learned if I wanted to walk out my vision, I had to do just like Elijah, when he was praying for rain to come, and I did.

In the Bible, it states:

Elijah went up to the top of Carmel: then he bowed down on the ground, and put his face between his knees and said to his servant “Go up now, look toward the sea.” So he went up and looked and said, “There is nothing.”  And seven times Elijah said, “Go again.” Then it came to pass the seventh times that the servant said, “There is a cloud, as small as a man’s hand, rising out of the sea!” So Elijah said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’”(1 Kings 18:42-44 NKJV)

So, as I entered 2016, I was on top of my Mount Carmel.  In fact, I am still there, persevering!

Can you see me?  Bowed on the ground with my face between my knees so I won’t be distracted from the left or right by well-minded naysayers and negativity. I am revising my manuscripts, editing my short stories, writing articles and submitting them to the relevant people, who have to power to accept or reject what I write, and I’m singing my songs as my cloud begins to rise.

You know when I read your comment I had to smile. After my concerts, many people have come to me thanking me for the rays of sunshine that suddenly appeared in their lives while I am singing. I consider that an honor and it makes me very appreciative of the voice that I have been given.

There's a song by Rodgers and Hammerstein entitled Climb Every Mountain.
I heard that song when I was eleven years old and it has stuck with me. Especially the last line, Climb every mountain until you find your dream.
Wishing you the best for 2016!!!

  15. Patience is a tough one. I did learn at some point that our writing is all we can control. So I just write and write and write. I send things out there, but I try not to put all my eggs in one basket. The more you get out there, the better your chances at success.

  24. Excellent post. I was talking to a writer friend of mine who was feeling discouragement because she wasn't landing any big contracts, small ones, yes, but she kept praying for bigger. It occurred to me that Jesus never wore a proper crown, he never lived in a castle, and he was never showered with gold, but no one can deny his impact on this world. He followed His heart and the path God set before Him never wavering or doubting that He was failing because He didn't have the biggest synagogue in the Holy Land. We must follow our hearts too and not measure our success by man's standards.

Best of luck hitting all your goals.

    1. Thank you so much, Elizabeth. I am still waiting for the small contracts to come in, but I can understand your writer friend. There is a desire within us to always do better. And thanks also for your wonderful piece of wisdom; to follow my heart and not measure my success by man's standards. That's beautiful. People who follow their hearts and not measure success according to man are usually happy people.
      Shalom Aleichem,
