The Child was enjoying life in its fullness.
Mr. Eagle |
Mr. Eagle flew above her.
Mr. Whale |
Mr. Whale swam beside her.
Octavio |
Octavio dived ahead of her.
Lily Pad and her Water Lily |
Lily Pad had given birth to the prettiest pink Water Lily that she'd ever seen,
The Prophet |
and The Prophet told her stories every night about people who had faced and met their challenges and thereby found the ultimate purpose for their lives. Ever so slowly, she was beginning to believe that The Prophet was ubiquitarian.
She sat by the Water Lily admiring its beauty.
"Prophet?"
The Child |
"Yes, Child?"
"You're ubiquitarian, aren't you?"
"I thought you said I was incorporeal."
"Uh-uh, Prophet. I asked you if you were incorporeal?"
"Oh."
"So, are you ubiquitarian?"
"Make up your mind, Child. What am I?"
"I don't know that's why I'm asking you."
"Can I be both?"
"Uh-uh."
"Why not?"
"Because I don't understand what incorporeal is?"
"Oh, I see."
"There you go again."
"What do you mean, Child?"
The Child |
"You and your oh I see. Well, I don't see."
The Prophet burst out in laughter.
"Child, don't get hung up on jargon."
"Which means?"
"If you want to consider me as incorporeal and ubiquitarian, it's okay with me."
"But it's not okay with me, Prophet."
"One of these days, we'll talk about this again."
"When?"
"When you've reached the ultimate and stand at the pinnacle of your purpose."
"Uh-uh, Prophet, not fair. By then, I might not want to know."
Chuckling, The Prophet said, "That is something I want to experience."
"Then, you Are ubiquitarian?"
The Prophet |
The laughter of The Prophet went out upon the ocean. The waves danced; Mr. Eagle gaaaaked; Mr. Whale rolled over in the water, and Octavio crawled dousing The Child as he swam as they heard The Prophet's joyful shriek.

Oh that Prophet! Such a mysterious being.
ReplyDeleteThat's one of the reasons, I love him. He is mysterious. Also, please tell your daughter that "we'll see" can also mean "maybe." I forgot to mention that in our correspondence.

I think the prophet is leading the child to find answers herself. As you are doing with your readers, huh? :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. It's nice that you see that The Prophet wants The Child to move out and find out for herself.

What's in a name anyway? So many things to learn, but she has a lovely place to learn in.
ReplyDeleteIndeed. Sometimes we put emphasis on the wrong things.

I don't have a prophet to ask what some of these words are. I guess I'll use a dictionary.
ReplyDeleteEven though I am high tech, my dictionaries are mostly hardbound. It is something about a hardbound dictionary that motivates me to learn new words and how to use them.
DeleteI can't wait to see where this goes. @sheilamgood at Cow Pasture Chronicles
ReplyDeleteThank you. I am excited too.

What a journey the child has undertaken...and the readers too.
ReplyDeleteA lesson every step of the way...new words for the reader...
Now I need to check the meaning of ubiquitarian.
I was just imagining the deep, warm voice of Morgan Freeman as the narrator for your audio book.
Writer In Transit
You know I can see Morgan Freeman as the voice for The Prophet. As narrator, I can see Patrick Stewart.

I think she's pegged him right! Great lessons for us all!
ReplyDeleteThank you. She believes she has him pegged. What I like is The Prophet's humor.

Simplified, I will say it's all in the process. And just when we reach perfection, there's more.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful allegory, Patricia. I foresee a series of books. :-)

Yes, just when we reach perfection, there's more. It is ever changing, ever learning path until we are no more.
