IWSG is a writers' support group created and led by Alex J. Cavanaugh.
Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It's a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
This group is an immense help to many of us who do not mind sharing our insecurities and successes or giving others encouragement and support.
So, if you are interested and would like to join, the link below will lead you directly to us.

Not Going That Route
I haven't played with AI nor plan to do any of what I consider the actual work of a writer with AI. Writing a synopsis is a part of my duty as a writer. I said in another blog post last year that the impact of AI on creative writing could be tremendous because not every writer is honest. I don't think writers plan or intend to be dishonest, but after struggling for years and still not getting a publishing contract, AI could persuade many to go that route.
There are too many ramifications to using AI. Therefore, I am sticking to putting my creative thoughts together and doing whatever is necessary to learn what I don't know about writing one step at a time.
Have a lovely month of March, everyone, and take care.

I'd use Al to help with a synopsis because I'm into time-saving tools. But I wouldn't use it to write my manuscript.
ReplyDeleteI feel like the synopsis is one of those things that could be written by anyone, and whether or not the actual writer of the book wrote it does not impact the underlying work. With that said, I don’t think that AI these days is sourced ethically, so I’m not using it. I like your title, “not going that route”!
ReplyDeleteI plan to do all the writing myself as well!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you and the others, I wouldn't use AI to write my story. I have been impressed with using AI to check my grammar.

Agreed!
ReplyDeleteIt's great to see so many of us sticking to our own hands and heads on this front. Keep the human in creative endeavors!
ReplyDeleteI wonder: would an AI-created manuscript have a higher chance of publication by a major publisher than if it written by a human? Has anyone tried that route already?
ReplyDeleteThe slow but sure process works for me! Great new picture of you, Pat.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it is a slippery slope and wonder where or when it will end. :-)

I'm with you, Pat, 100%! Happy spring and happy creating in March!
ReplyDeleteHi, Pat! I haven't used AI either. I hope you're writing goes well this month.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what I'll do. For me, the fun in writing is the writing. What would be the fun in that?
ReplyDeleteI played around with it just to see what the hype was about with no intention to actually use it in my published work. My experience was very creepy. Like you, I can see people abusing this and "taking the easy route" to achieve their publishing goals.
