IWSG DAY, JUNE 5, 2024, DO WE REALLY NEED TO OFFER MORE? By Pat Garcia @TheIWSG #IWSG #amwriting @pat_garcia

Welcome to our sixth IWSG Day of the year for 2024.

IWSG is a writers' support group created and led by Alex J. Cavanaugh.

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It's a haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

This group is an immense help to many of us who do not mind sharing our insecurities and successes or giving others encouragement and support.

So, if you are interested and would like to join, the link below will lead you directly to us.

Submissions: None

Our Twitter handle is @TheIWSG, and the hashtag is #IWSG.

The awesome co-hosts for the June 5 posting of the IWSG are Liza at Middle Passages, Shannon Lawrence, Melissa Maygrove, and Olga Godim!

DO WE REALLY NEED TO OFFER MORE?

The IWSG offers a lot already. However, I would like to see us continue to provide writers with the opportunity to be a part of an IWSG Anthology. Outside of that, we have partners listed on our website that cover most areas of writing that an author needs.

Have a lovely month of June, everyone.

Take care.

Shalom shalom

  1. Others have mentioned the anthology too. It's a good idea.

  2. Wish we could keep doing the anthologies but they became too much.

  3. I liked the anthology, too, but like Alex commented it was so much work for the admins. Maybe in the future when we catch out breaths.

  5. Good idea, Pat. I also like the idea of being a mentor. Happy IWSG Wednesday.

  6. I'd love to submit to the IWSG anthology. Thanks Pat!

  7. Good question. Whatever they do, they need to do well and organized with as little work as possible for the admins.

  8. Happy IWSG Day, Pat! A lot of us would like to see the anthologies come back. Is there an alternative way we could resurrect them? That's what I'm thinking. Happy June to you!

  9. The anthologies were tons of work and potential problems were looming on the horizon, unfortunately.

  10. We tried to create a WEP anthology, but we didn't get enough submissions for a full book. Maybe if we did it through IWSG ... I've already written my submission story, and so have a few others. And now my story has nowhere to go. Pity.

  11. You're not wrong. I think the leaders of the pack are worried about our numbers. I can't blame them there.

    Have a good month,

  13. I agree IWSG offers an amazing list of services and information. At the same time, as I read other posts on this topic I see interesting suggestions.
Thank you for visiting my site.

  14. Thank you for your comments and for co-hosting. Yes, IWSG offers so much, yet I did like the idea of connecting with other writers, perhaps those interested in being beta readers. But I also appreciated your brevity. I feel supported just by participating once a month, and I know that only scratches the surface.

  15. Being an admin is a lot of work and they're all volunteering their time. I also miss the anthology, but realize they are A LOT of work!

  16. The anthologies were wonderful... but they took tons of work.
    Hope you're well, Pat.
